  • We recommend walking along Carroll Creek downtown. Kids will love the lilypads and flowers. Pop into the Delaplaine for kid friendly art activities. Don’t miss the art cart!

  • If your little ones love fairy tales, check out Sophie and Madigan’s Playground.

  • Visit the best toy shop ever, Dancing Bear. Head straight to the back for the best area for kids and toddlers!

For the School-Age Crowd

From cool shops and historic sites to outdoor adventures like hiking, biking, and exploring parks, there’s no shortage of ways to spark imagination and energy. Some of our fav ideas, approved by our 8 year old:

  • Visit our fav bookstore ever, Curious Iguana. Head to the way back for the kids section. If you need recommendations, the staff are incredible. 

  • Walk around Baker Park, The perfect spot to run around, play, and picnic on a sunny day. 

  • Root for the home team at a Frederick Keys game!

  • Play some games at Fourth Dimension: A fun center with a little bit of everything to keep the whole family happy– bowling, arcade, laser tag, escape room, and food too!

  • Let your kids experience what life in early America was like at this historic site at The Children’s Museum of Rose Hill Manor.

  • Our fav spots are Muse and Treaty General Store but there are so many!

  • If you want to spend the night, Frederick has really cool ghost tours!

  • Spinners: A retro arcade where you can play pinball machines and classic arcade games all day for $20!
