our 2026 plans
Every trip starts long before the suitcases come out. It starts with conversations at the dinner table, pins dropped on maps, and kids asking, “What if we went there?” As we look toward 2026, our travel plans are rooted in curiosity, connection, and creating moments our family will talk about long after the journey ends. Here are our 2026 plans so far…
1. January: puerto vallarta, mx
Why we picked it: We love experiencing Mexico outside of resorts alongside easy adventure—without the stress of long travel days or over-planned itineraries. After our trip to the Yucatan in 2024, we have been so excited to return to Mexico.
What we are planning to do: Beach, tacos, whale watching, art peeping, Spanish speaking (or trying), repeat.
Vision: Relax in the sun and eat tacos.
2. spring break: Costa rica
Why we picked it: Fellow travelers have been telling me that our family would love Costa Rica for a LONG TIME. The nature, the culture, the “pura vida” vibes? I’m here for it.
What we are planning to do: Stay in the jungle, hike and enjoy nature, see animals, swim.
3. summer: Tbd
This is a huge question mark in our year and not my norm at all. We usually head to the beach for 1-2 weeks but have decided we want to do something else this year. We will either…
Head to West Virginia for hiking and mountain views

Do a DC overnight stay for museums, food and culture.
4. october: Turkey
Why we picked it: One of the big reasons we aren’t doing a big summer trip is so we can save for a trip to Turkey, one of our favorite places on earth. We went on our honeymoon back in 2011 and will be celebrating 15 years of marriage next year! It only feels appropriate that we return to Turkey with our wild kids in tow.
What we are planning to do: We are so excited to show them the amazing architecture and food in Istanbul and the beautiful beaches in the South.
