The weather outside is getting frightful! But travel deals are so delightful. Lots of families are looking at last minute winter getaways. Are you a snow bird looking for warm weather wanderings or a holiday elf looking for a winter wonderland? We have ideas for both!

The weather on the east coast is already quite chilly and as we get ready for the holiday season, I know many families are planning trips! Trips around this time of year fall into one of two categories:

Warm Weather Wanderings

This is where our family falls. I love to escape the cold in the middle of the winter, get some sun and sand. Here are some destinations that mix local culture, adventure, relaxation and great food! They are also all DIRECT FLIGHTS from DC area airports.

Aruba 

• Who is it for? Sun Chasing Explorers - families who enjoy a blend of relaxation and culture

• How far is it? 4.5 hour direct flight.

• Tell us about it! Aruba a sun-soaked Caribbean island where Dutch charm meets desert landscapes and turquoise seas.
